J.J. Howrey, Mahaska Snack Route Manger, works in Iowa where he was born and raised. J.J. has an outgoing personality and enjoys to make fun of himself. He is a proud and hard  working family man. What is a typical day at Mahaska look like for you?

My day typically starts at 5:00 a.m. Either opening the warehouse or going to the office. I’m busy with checking emails, making phone calls, helping the route salesmen and women with any tasks for the day, and going out in the market to take care of our current customers. We are always striving for new customers.

Favorite beverage that Mahaska distributes?

Mt. Dew, but these days Klarbrunn Water is my drink of choice.

Favorite snack that Mahaska distributes?

My stature would tell you most any of them, but if I was forced to pick: Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

What do you do outside of Mahaska for fun?

I spend time with my family.

What’s something no one would guess about you?

If I told, you wouldn’t be curious any longer.

How would you think your friends describe you in one sentence?

Loyal, hardworking, and a family man.

What are you most passionate about?

Working towards retirement.

Are you involved in the local community? If so, how?

Yes, I serve as a council member for our small community in Fremont, Iowa.

 What have you seen Mahaska do that benefits the local community?

Donating to large or small causes, Dew It for your school programs, and helping business achieve optimal sales of Mahaska products.
