Meet Terrie McElroy, Accounts Receivable Assistant

Terrie McElroy, Accounts Receivable Assistant for Mahaska, was born in Ottumwa, IA, where she grew up and attended Ottumwa High School. Since then she has lived in Burlington IA, Chicago IL, and Charleston WV. She worked for 19 years in the airline industry and 7 years at AAA Travel. After the AAA offices were closed in Ottumwa, Terrie decided to make something good out of a bad situation and went to college at Indian Hills Community College. She received her diploma in the Administrative Assistant Program in May of 2010, and started working at Mahaska in July of 2010. She has been at Mahaska now for a total of 5 years. Read the below interview to get to know her a bit better!

What is a typical day at Mahaska like for you?

Checks, checks and more checks, on a good day! That is my first priority, but then there is so much more, but no time to write.

Favorite beverage that Mahaska distributes?

Water.

What do you do outside of Mahaska for fun?

I visit my daughters and sisters. Activities and volunteer opportunities at and with my church family. I love being outside, especially on the beach!

How would you think your friends describe you in one sentence?

You would have to ask them!

What are you most passionate about?

My Lord and Savior! Just ask me.

How are you involved in the local community?

I am very involved in serving my church in Oskaloosa, IA. I am also a member of the Mahaska CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) and enjoy many opportunities to serve the surrounding communities. I also serve on the city council in Fremont, IA.

What have you seen Mahaska do that benefits the community?

Donating to the local Food Cupboard and participating in local community events.
